Wandering Mess

Umka travels and sometimes she types things.

The invitations have been sent!

And in my excitement, I wanted to forward the happy email to Deanna as soon as possible, and I hit reply instead of forward. And I'm so embarrassed, because I had added a comment for Deanna:
"(Zhenya is a girl, I thought it was a man all this time...!!) :o)"

So embarrassed. I was so happy, and now I want to hide under the floor. I hope Zhenya has a sense of humour!

Russia Update

Dealings with Russia are always so fun and complicated! This is an update on the internship situation, which is really an update on the visa situation.

1) The Good News: We have an apartment! And its address! And I know which pizza company delivers, and it's next to a Ramstore, and a big shopping centre. Both things I would hate here, but which come in real handy in Russia.
*ETA*: And plane tickets have been secured. Hopefully we won't need to change them.

2) The Unclear News: We were first told it would take 10 days to send us our invitation. We sent in our applications end of December. We were then told the invitation would be ready January 12th. Then we were told it would take 1-2 days for it to be shipped to us. And then we were told they dont't know which date we'll be receiving the invitation. I think it's all just one big test to see if we're ready for Moscow.

3) The bad news is that I forgot to give Mireille back her keys before I left Montreal, and that her dog is now stuck in the apartment all day long.

Montréal et New York

This little holiday trip was a nice way to figure out how my new camera works. It works. It is confusing to me, I need less (and better) options.

So, Montréal was filled with friends.

I like that city.

... and New York. The Big Apple. It actually is an impressive city.

The streets are narrow and the buildings are tall. So it makes one feel fat and short.

After much deliberation, we decided to spend New Year's on Time Square, along with another million people. Well, it turned out to be 16 streets from Time Square... We didn't see a thing but had a pretty good time.

PS. I don't understand how this works.
